1. What we collect
When you subscribe to free updates, we collect your email address and optional first name. When you become a Founding Correspondent, we collect your name, email, payment information (processed by our payment provider), and any messages you send to Mateo as part of your correspondence.
2. Your correspondence is private
The content of your letters — what you write to Mateo and what Mateo writes to you — is private. Only the human creative team behind Mateo can read it, and only to write you back. Your letter content is never used for analytics, model training, public display, or shared with third parties.
3. How we use your data
We use your email to send letters and updates, your name to address you personally, and your correspondence content to generate Mateo's replies. Payment data is handled entirely by our payment processor — we never store full card numbers.
4. How letters are generated
Mateo's letters and replies are generated with the assistance of automated systems and reviewed by the human creative team before they reach you. Your correspondence content is not used to train external models.
5. Cookies & analytics
We use minimal, privacy-respecting analytics to understand which pages are visited and which CTAs are clicked. We do not track correspondence content, personal identifiers in analytics, or sell data to advertisers. Authentication cookies are required for your account.
6. Data retention
Your correspondence history is retained while your membership is active and remains accessible in your account if you cancel. You can request deletion of your correspondence and account data at any time by contacting us.
7. Your rights
You can access, correct, or delete your personal data. You can cancel your membership at any time. You can unsubscribe from free updates at any time. To exercise any of these rights, contact us through the contact page.
8. Third-party services
We use third-party services for payment processing, email delivery, and hosting. Each service has its own privacy policy. We only share the minimum data necessary for them to provide their service.
9. Children's privacy
This service is for adults 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. The premium social destination is explicitly 18+ content.
